Your roster, in context

Which of our artists also show elsewhere — and where? More than six hundred artists here show at two markets or more. A single roster cannot say which of yours are among them.

Who shows at three other markets and has never applied to ours?Proven, actively exhibiting artists who simply have not found their way to your application — a jury pipeline that is currently invisible.

Which of last year’s exhibitors did not come back? And did they stop showing altogether, or are they showing somewhere else?

None of these are answerable from one market’s data. They become answerable the moment the rosters sit together, which is the only thing we are proposing.

“Is our data being sold?” No. Artists are never charged to claim or hold a record, and rosters shared with us are not licensed onward.

“Are you merging our categories into someone else’s?” No. Your classifications appear as you publish them, attributed to you — flag anything off and we’ll square it up quickly. Santa Fe’s Jewelry and the Heard’s are different systems and stay that way.

“Are you competing with us?” No. We run no market and jury no artist. The directory is worth more to an artist the more markets are in it, which means our interest is in every one of you being represented well.

“You published our roster without asking.” That is fair, and we would rather address it than defend it. What is here was drawn from material each organization made public, but publishing something and consenting to see it reassembled elsewhere are not the same thing. This page exists partly to open that conversation.

“What if we want something taken down?” Tell us what it is and we will take it down while we talk it through. We would rather have the conversation with the material offline than argue about it while it is up.
