Overview
Organized by the Autry Museum of the American West, this is the West Coast's major juried Native art market. It traces back more than 35 years to the Southwest Museum of the American Indian, which merged into what is now the Autry in 2003. Alongside a juried competition in basketry, painting, textiles, sculpture and more, the weekend includes dance performances, storytelling, and screenings of Indigenous film. It ran in November for decades and recently moved to a June date — a good option for collectors who cannot easily reach the Southwest markets.

Most of this history is still on paper. We hold one edition of Autry American Indian Arts Marketplace. The years before that sit in boxes and filing cabinets, or are not on record at all anymore. Help us put the records together.
